This Framingham Bathroom
was remodeled by a well-advertised Metro West Plumber
in January 2006. In September 2006 the homeowner called
and told me that the grout lines are cracking and tile
is falling off the wall. Can I help her. The entire tile
job (including taking out the shower door and replacing
it), had to be redone.
Two/Three critical mistakes caused this problem:
- One, the grout lines are too close together
which prevents an adequate amount of grout to
be inserted between the tiles;
|
- Two, the grout was mixed too wet so that it
would fit into the small grout lines. (the drier
the grout is mixed the stronger it is); and
|
- Three, mastic was used as the tile adhesive
instead of thin-set mortar.
